Planned for 2017

RMS Leinster
The Royal Mail Steamer Leinster was torpedoed and sunk off Kingstown (now Dun Laoghaire) on 10 Oct 1918 with the loss of 500 lives out of 700 passengers and crew. This mini exhibition, presently at the National Maritime Museum, Dun Laoghaire, features 45 members of the 75 strong crew.

In 2002 I mounted a temporary exhibition in Rush featuring 50 CR10 card copies of local seamen. I was astonished at the interest and feedback from the local community. I have pursued this idea in collaboration with museums or historical societies in other coastal areas.

In 2009 Newry and Mourne Museum organised an exhibition featuring a selection of seamen from their area. I organised temporary exhibitions in Islandmagee, Skerries and Clogherhead which each featured around 60 local seamen.

In 2010 Dundalk County Museum, curator Brian Walsh, hosted an exhibition which featured over 400 seamen from Dundalk and Cooley. An accompanying 24 page booklet is available for down load at www.dundalkmuseum.ie and there is also a video of the exhibition available on line.

In 2011 Inishowen Maritime Museum, Co Donegal, manager Gemma Havlin, opened an exhibition featuring 170 Inishowen seamen. An accompanying book can be purchased from the museum. Inishowen Maritime Museum website.

I organised temporary exhibitions in Kilkeel, Carlingford and Larne which ranged from 70 men in Carlingford to 160 in Larne.

In 2012 I returned to Rush with an exhibition featuring 100 seamen compared with the 50 shown at the 2002 exhibition. I also returned to Carlingford with an updated exhibition of 80 Cooley seamen

In August 2013 I presented an exhibition for the Millmount Museum, Drogheda featuring 400 seamen from Drogheda and the neighbouring coastal villages.

In August 2014 I presented a temporary exhibition featuring 70 Ringsend seamen at Dublin City Library, Pearse Street, Dublin.

In August 2015 I presented a temporary exhibition featuring 90 Balbriggan and Skerries seamen at Balbriggan Library.

In 2016 I presented an updated exhibition of 100 Islandmagee seamen at the new Gobbins
Visitors centre and added a small exhibition for 30 Ballycarry seamen.

I also presented an exhibition featuring 40 seamen from the Sailortown area of Belfast at the Public Record Office of Northern Ireland (PRONI)
